Common Questions

Many people wonder what to expect during sessions.

Here are some commonly asked questions about Moving Waters Counseling.

When are you available?

Times are available in both daytime and evening hours to fit a variety of schedules.
Monday           9-5
Tuesday           9-5
Wednesday    12-7
Thursday         12-7

Do you accept my insurance?

We do accept insurance, and are considered "In-Network" with lots of  insurance companies. If you would like, we'd be happy to contact your  insurance company to check on your exact share of the payment. Please  contact the office if you'd like your insurance verified.

What if I don't have insurance, or they won't cover it?

We can accept payment by check, cash or by credit card.

Do you offer an online therapy option?

Yes! I am established with a vendor that provides a confidential platform for telehealth.  This can be used in case of sickness, if you live away from Duluth, if your child-care falls through, or if you just prefer to stay home!

How long are the sessions?

Most sessions are just under an hour, about 50 minutes long.  Extended sessions are available if your travel  needs or other situation would make a longer session better.  Some people prefer a longer appointment to cover more ground or to go deeper into the topics being addressed.

How can I know if this is what I need?

We offer a free 15 minute phone consultation, where we can discuss  exactly what you are looking for, and then can make recommendations. During  this time, we can set up an appointment if you would like.

What will happen at my first appointment?

During the first session, we will spend a few minutes completing  paperwork to start. We'll then talk about what you want different for  your life, and how you are hoping we can help. You will have time to  share some information about yourself and what has been happening in  your life. We'll be working to understand you, as a unique person with  unique experiences. We'll work to make clear what we have to offer based  on the troubles you're facing, and hopefully we'll have time to give you  some tips on what you can do on your own to impact your desired change.  The first session is often different than others, because we are working  quickly to learn as much about you and your situation as we can. Later  sessions tend to be more collaborative, and more focused on what can be  done about your unique challenges.

If you'd like to save a few minutes of time in the initial visit, you can download and complete the intake paperwork ahead of time.
